Buzzed, Bald, Boring, Bland

Posted by Brian On September - 29 - 2008

Every great video game has many components which come together to form one cohesive gooey ball of moist and chewy goodness (that sounded strangely dirty). Along with all the usual suspects, character design has been a major part in any superb video game. Although, as of late, many high profile games have lost this all important piece of the gaming puzzle…

What do you get when you mix Marty MacFly, Doc Brown, and Warioware? Well, maybe something like this:

Metal Gear Sadness

Video games are a lot like a never ending war. As a soldier, you go through all sorts of emotions and experiences everyday, and anyone who is in this “war” alongside you is a comrade. Instead of bullet wounds, you’ve got blistered thumbs. Instead of army rations, you have ramen noodles. You share stories and your glorious accomplishments. Part of gaming, in my opinion, is this integral community of gaming war stories. As many of you know, Erik (co-creator of Substance TV) has been a long time friend of mine. Guns, Swords, and Stones!

Posted by Brian On September - 11 - 2008

It\'s like they\'re in my face!

As promised, the games for review in Substance TV episode 7 are revealed. Yea, I know, there’s a picture that shows them all up there anyway, but here’s a list for kicks and giggles (in order of review even!).

Guns
Mega Turrican – Sega Genesis

Swords
Strider 2 – Sony Playstation

Stones
Power Stone – Sega Dreamcast

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, and I’ll be keeping many of them in mind for future episodes. As posted before, episode 7 will be out on October 1st, 2008. While I could wax eloquently, I think I’ll get back to work on episode 7.

P.S. – Thanks again to all the fans of Substance TV for all your support! You folks rock this world upon which I stand.
