You got some splainin’ to do!

I Love Substance

As promised, Substance TV episode 8 is finished and ready to go. To be honest, it’s been done for a few days. So obviously you’re asking why isn’t it uploaded? Good question indeed.

About a week ago, Erik and I were contacted by John D. over at RetroWare TV. Long story short, he asked us if we would like to be a new show on the site. I talked to John over e-mail and even on the phone about all the details. Afterwards, Erik and I talked it over, and a few days ago we we accepted their offer.

Now what does this all mean and what has changed? Nothing really. The only major change will be that all future episodes of Substance TV will now premiere on RetroWare TV’s website www.retrowaretv.com. Then after a few days, the show will be on our website, Youtube, and all those other places. So you’ll still be able to download high quality versions of the show, watch episodes through the podcast, and even Youtube. It’ll just be a bit delayed.

And no, there’s no big cash payoff or exchange of money in some secret Swiss bank account. And there’s no change of ownership or change in what we can and can’t review. This joint venture is good for both sites. For RetroWare TV, it gives them another show to add to their lineup and another reason to check out the site. For Substance TV, it gets the goodness out there to more people. We’ve always enjoyed RetroWare TV’s stuff, and they’re a good bunch of guys who just enjoy playing video games. So we’re honored to be a part of it all.

I’ll be the first to admit that episodes of Substance TV have not come out as fast as Erik and I would like. All that will change with this move as we will be putting out a new episode of Substance TV every month. Substance TV will still be committed to putting out the same quality review show each and every episode.

Episode 8 will premiere over at RetroWare TV’s website on Tuesday (3-10-09). I would have loved to get it out this week, but both us and RetroWare TV needed time to make the changes and get things ready.

Both Erik and I want to say how much we appreciate our fans and folks that have given us support over the years. I want to say a special thanks to Borman over at http://superiorversion.com/ (previously Past to Present Online). Back when I was first starting this show with no website, and no know how, Borman personally hosted my videos on his site. It was very gracious of him and he gave me my first real break. I also want to thank Jangofatt and the crew over at www.pineconeattack.com. They always throw some lovin’ our way whether it be in the form of articles on their website or mentions in the podcast. They were one of the first websites to give Substance TV notoriety. Plus they themselves have great content as well.

And this news is exclusive to you few fine folks who visit our little site. We wanted to give you a heads up and let you know what was going on.

Well, that’s about it. Remember to check out episode 8 on Tuesday at www.retrowaretv.com. And we’re already working on preparations for episode 9.

I’m really disappointed right now about this. I could understand if you did’nt have time or such to make episodes. That’s not the problem that you make agreement with gameing sites, other reviwers do so (Yahtzee-Escapist, AVGN-Gametrailers) and these guys at retrowaretv can be nice guys also. But keeping the promised episode at bay… for whatever reasons…when it is ready and promised. Really dont know what to think…

Well, I know what to think…Awesome!!!! I love Retroware TV, with shows like “Sold Separately” “Video Game Takeout” “The Gaming Historian” and “The Happy Video Game Nerd” they (along with Substance T.V., of course :) ) are among some of my most visited sites on the web. Congratulations Brian and Erik. Don’t worry about the delay, most of us are a patient group and for me anyway hearing this exciting news more than justifies it. Rock On!

To Gulandro: I can understand your frustrations over the delay in episode 8. All I can say is this was never a planned thing. I made the announcement about episode 8 being released this week, and just days later I was contacted by John at RetroWare TV. Since we were becoming a part of the site, and episode 8 was on the brink, John and I both agreed it would be better to release episode 8 as the premiere of Substance TV on RetroWare TV. And I would have loved to have it up on thier site this week, but there were already other shows premiering and we both needed time to get things ready on both sides. Had this all happened just days earlier, things would have been different. It never was, and never is, my goal to mislead or misdirect you guys. The most important thing to know is we are still gonna be around here blogging and creating new projects and other exclusive content for this website. It may be a few days delayed, but I think it will be worth it.

Megamanfan: Thanks my man! We’re pretty pumped about joining along side the other shows on RetroWare TV. Best part about it all, John an Ito are all about putting out high quality stuff, so we’re on that same boat as well. It’s honestly because of our viewers that keeps us doing what we’re doing. See you Tuesday!

  4. [...] Episode #8 of Substance-TV has been pushed back to Tuesday to premier on Retroware TV. Are they selling out to the man or [...]

  5. RetrowareTV says:

Hey Everyone! I never thought Retroware TV would ever be referred to as “the man” but I can assure you that we definitely not! But it is kinda funny to hear that anwyay — I’m totally humbled.

Everyone at RWTV is incredibly excited to have Substance TV over at the site and we hope some of you guys come over and join up too. Substance TV will have its own page and forum over there as well and we will link from STV’s page back to here for the blog and episode downloads. Partnering up with Substance TV was something we wanted to do for a long time. Just like Brian and Erik, we’re avid fans of classic games and making high quality shows. The site is all about fans and the community above all else. Anyhow, the announcement hasn’t been made over at RWTV yet because it was best that everyone here was told first. Tomorrow will be the big release day and we hope to see you over there!

I just watched the episode and it is as I expected: nothing less than greatness.

Keep up the good work. Rock on!

    Au revoir
