Caught me a bass

My favorite thing to slap

In a previous post, I told you about my good DSi luck. You can read about it here.

After I purchased a charger for my new found DSi, I decided to peruse the rest of the store for kicks and giggles. As a general statement, finding good deals at a Gamestop is a rarity. But as I walked around, I saw something out of place. Since the rise of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Gamestop has had a steady flow of used guitar controllers. But I already had two guitar controllers and wasn’t in the market for one. What did peak my interest was an oddly shaped headstock. This wasn’t your typical Gibson or Epiphone or even wanna be off brand. Nor was it a normal 6 string headstock. What I saw was a four string headstock.

So I walk around to the other side, and to my delight, I find: Read the rest of this entry »

Pinekast: The teen years

ROBO BEARS!

Pineksat numero 13 is out, and this week we cover the games of Treasure. Why do I say we, as if to imply me? Well, the boys as Pineksat were kind enough to allow me a guest spot on the show this week as a few of the regulars were M.I.A.. This episode also saw the return of Badly. There were also some techincal issues that made Jango and Tenno sound like freaky intergalactic robots from time to time. Although the audio may be a bit out of whack, it was still a blast. We cover a little bit of everything, and nothing too!

Thanks again to the fine fellas at www.pineconeattack.com for thier hospitality. Make sure to subscribe to them as they are one of the better podcasts out there in my opinion.

X-Men TAS on DVD!!

Posted by Brian On April - 27 - 2009

Joe Madureira rocks your face off!

When I was growing up in the late 80’s and 90’s, my priortities in life were quite simple, video games and Saturday morning cartoons. Along with the usual cast of favorties is one of my all-time favorites: X-Men! I can still remember hearing Wolverine and freaking out because the guy had a voice that sounded like the perfect Wolverine. In the past few years, retro shows have been coming out of the woodworks and getting a DVD treatment, but through all of it, no X-Men. Sure, we’ve gotten a few isolated episodes here and there, or some bootleg copy of the series, but no offical release. Nearly 17 years later and we are finally getting the first real DVD release of the show on Tuesday April the 28th, 2009!

Two volumes will be released tomorrow for a total of 33 episodes. Even better, Best Buy is running a special. You can get both volumes for $35 instead of $20 separately. Yea it’s just $5, but it’s better then an antimantium claw to the junk. Follow the link for more details:

X-MEN ON DVD FOOLS!

Lower dosage Pixel Pill

Posted by Brian On April - 24 - 2009

Pill poppin' fools

After we were done recording the audio for the first Pixel Pill, I thought editing it would be a cinch. I mean just clip out a few things here or there, and it’s done right? Yea, not so much. I worked on it all week and it took me much longer then I would have ever expected. Once we got done with episode two, I got to editing again, thinking this time it would go quicker. A day into it at 2 A.M., I came to the realization that between a full time day job, family, my son, life, Substance TV, sleep, sleep, sleep, and all my other obligations, a weekly podcast just wouldn’t fit in.

I talked it over with the guys and they agreed we should go to a bi-weekly podcast for now. It may go back to a weekly podcast once we get into the swing of things, or if I find some free time down the road. One other reason this was done is for quality purposes. I imagine I could shove out an unedited podcast and it would be decent, but Nick, 2600, and myself all agree that we want this to be a quality show.

So think of it as we’re lowering your dosage per Dr. Mario’s request. Thanks again to everyone who has listened so far and look forward to our podcast on Sunsoft coming out next week!

BTW: Some good games of Outrun 2 with Jango and Nick! OG Xbox 4 life……yo.

Zone of the Enders 3?!

Posted by Brian On April - 23 - 2009

I <3 Kojima

Of course you all know I’m a big fan of anything by Hideo Kojima, as is seen by my mad love for the Metal Gear Solid series. Mr. Kojima also had a hand in the little game franchise known as Zone of the Enders. The first was average, but the sequel is one of my favorite games on the PS2. Now it is being reported that a sequel is rumored to be in the works!

Six years after the release of the last console game in the series, Hideo Kojima is talking Zone of the Enders. Specifically, the Kojima Productions founder (and creator of a little series called Metal Gear) asks if gamers are really interested in a Zone of the Enders 3 during a new episode of MGS4’s in-game “Integral” podcast.

Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner — the, well, second game in the series — was directed by MGS4 co-writer and director, Shuyo Murata, and remains a fan favorite in addition to a critical success; we’re surprised it’s taken Kojima this long to broach the topic of a sequel. In closing out a discussion about the demand for a follow-up, Kojima and his podcasting partners ask gamers to email them if they’d be interested in seeing it happen.

Kojima-san, about your mail server … we’re sorry about its imminent death under the weight of all those emails. Surely you can buy a new one with profits from ZOE 3?

So, what are you waiting for, click, click, click!

E-mail Kojima and tell him you want Zone of the Enders 3!

Avatars make me happy

And wear eye makeup

So instead of figuring out how to get avatars working, I just took the work of others, copied and pasted it.

What you need to do is create an account at Gravatar. It’s important that the email you use there needs to match the one you use here; or if you prefer, you can add more email addresses to your new Gravatar account. Now, the idea behind Gravatar (now owned by Wordpress) is that you use one main place (Gravatar) to store or link avatars for global use, as long as wherever you are posting supports Gravatars.

Basically you will have the same avatar wherever you go. And you can easily add more, change them, whatever.

So, by signing up there, you should automatically see your avatar added to our comments, if a bit small. Working on that right now.

There is a small amount of trust involved here though O.K.? I can set the ratings of the avatars, but I trust the members of the site pretty much, so feel free to use whatever you wish. Just keep it fairly classy. If it’s not safe for work, it’s probably not safe here. People breaking that rule are going to be warned, ridiculed and then ban hammered, and since I have yet to ban anyone that wasn’t trying to market ‘hotsexxxygurls’ to our readership I’d rather never have to.

So here’s the rundown:

1) Go to Gravatar

2) Create account with or by adding the email you use here (you can change it in your options if you wish)

3) Upload your own or link whatever.

4) Post freely, all excited that we are using a feature from 2005 =)

In the weeks to come I’ll be making and uploading custome Substance TV avatars so you can use it as I know these are in HIGH demand. :)

this is a total ninja theft from Pineconeattack

Do you like mechs? No, well then you can kindly shove it. After some delays and audio problems, the boys at Pinekast are back this week as they cover the goodness that is mech games. They’ve even got a spiffy new intro that ties in perfectly.
