November Free Play (and October winner!)

Ninjas > Pirates

Hey all. First, I know this is a bit late. O.K., not a bit late, really, really, really, holy crap late. So without further ado, let’s get this started. The winner of the October Free Play, which was a brand new copy of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat on the Gamecube and the Wii, is none other than……*DRUM ROLL*

Samurai Sam!

Congrats sir! We’ll be in contact to get your address and send you the lovin’ of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.

Now onto the November Free Play. This month we are giving away a copy of Shinobi for the PS2. It’s a departure from the 2D confines of the original, but it is surprisingly one of the better games in the series and on the PS2. If you’ll remember, we covered Shinobi in episode 2 of Substance TV. While I could go on, check out the episode for the full review. Needless to say, it’s amazing.

Since this is coming later then normal, the contest will be extended just a bit into December. We’ll extend the eligibility to 12:01 A.M. on December 7th. That will give you a little over two weeks to enter. And since most of the entries come in in the first week or so anyway, I think it should be enough time. When we start the December contest, it will end at the normal end of the month.

Since Shinobi on the PS2 is a revival of the series, we want you to tell us what video game franchise you’d like to see a revival or rebirth of. Personally, I’d like to see a new Power Stone on next gen consoles with online play. C’mon Capcom, DO IT!

You can enter two ways: by posting a comment on this post, or by posting a comment on the YouTube video (link). As with the last contest, if you enter at both places, you double your chances of winning. So get to it folks. Thanks again to everyone who has entered. Both Erik and I enjoyed reading your stories and thoughts on video games.

BTW: Substance TV 11 is coming along. I had a root canal this month and my mouth, and consequently voice, have been out of commission. Don’t worry, things are still coming along, but at a different pace. We don’t want to sacrifice a quality voice over for a quicker turn around. Look for it here in the next few weeks!

I would love to see a revival of the Klonoa series. A third Klonoa on the PS3 (and 360 and Wii; I wouldn’t want you guys excuded ;) ) would be amazing, I think (if done right, obviously, but that’s implied). And with some sort of online and offline co-op (or even some sort of versus kind of mode for both as well?), it would just be a thrill.

@Nightmare: Dude, you just made my day! If nothing else, it shows that Capcom knows its’ fans want a new Power Stone. Let’s just hope they follow through with those promises. C’mon Capcom, don’t screw this opportunity up!

Good sir, you may want to check this out. It seems Capcom hasn’t forgotten about Power Stone at all:

“We’re working on a way for you to be able to do just such a thing (voice your opinion), and hope to have the new Unity feature available soon-ish. The bad news is that you’ll have to compete with the Powerstone 3 and RE: Outbreak psychos for attention! :D Seriously though, I know that having such a clear outlet is important, and we’re working on even more direct ways for you to let your voice be heard internally here at Capcom.” – Capcom Community Manager Seth Killian

I wouldn’t mind seeing a brand new game in the Crush pinball series.

As an RPG fan i believe they need to revive the ChronoTrigger series. The game had great gameplay, awesome 16-bit graphics, and amazing story. I mean the game had a port to the ds which made me incredibly happy but it wasn’t a sequel. I don’t understand why Square Enix won’t make a sequel to this series. I mean did ChronoTrigger DS sell? Now if you excuse me I’m gonna go to youtube and submit one for better chances of getting Shinobi.

SquareEnix should revive the Tobal series from the PS1 days. That would be pretty awesome!

So I have a few actually.
    1) Metal slug needs to be comming back that was just an awsome series.
2)There were 2 games in all, one for NES and one for SNES, the first was called gargoyles quest and you started this game off as a fire breathing gargoyle named firebrand who is feared in hell. All the demons and undead fear him because you took on the boss and laid the place to waist. The second one was Demons Crest, this takes place about 300 years later after all is well on earth and you are now a full fledged demon no longer the gargoyle. This time you take on HUGE BOSSES and the graphics look great. You go through it almost like a metroid type game play looking for abilities and unlock health bars and what not. You have to find all these different gargoyles who once were your allies and kill them each of them for there demon crests that give them there power so that you can transform into something like them to finish off that part of the game. I could see both these games being really really good remakes. This game has so much to it and looks freaking awsome and is possibly one of the most beautiful games out there on the SNES. First boss, is an UNDEAD drake who breathes fire and you can see every muscle move when he moves and breathes ohhh and this is the very beginning of the game when you first try to leave hell. :D

I would love to see Killer Instinct make a come back. Either by making a third game or reviving to old ones for XBLA.
