Posted by Landon On August - 29 - 2011

GAME TIME! Well, if you like Madden that is. Madden 2012 hits stores this week and some retailers are trying to get it in your hands for a little less. Other than that, there are some pretty nice hardware bundles, as well as a few other notables.

Battlefield 1943 half off today only

Posted by Brian On December - 31 - 2009

Pursuing around my Twitter feeds, I noticed the announcement from DICE that Battlefield 1943 will be only 600 points (a measly $7.50) on December 31st only.

Hey followers, please help us spread the word, this Dec 31st on XBLA BF1943 is only 600 MS Point! :-)

I can’t tell you the number of hours I’ve put into this game. Well I guess I could, but I’m too lazy to check and partially scared of how much actual time I’ve spent on this game. This is an amazing game and worth the original $15 price point, so it’s certainly worth half of that. I bought this game not only for the 360 at full price, but for the PS3 as well so I could play with Erik and other friends on PSN making it the first game I own on more than one next gen console.

For those of you who own a 360, and you don’t have this game already, get to it. You won’t regret it. I know Modern Warfare 2 is all the rage now, and I love that game to pieces, but this is still worth the purchase.

Robotron Smash Zombies

!!!!!!!!!!!

Indie games on Xbox Live, for the most part, suck a big left one. Most of them feel like an unfinished Flash game created by an autistic boy on meds. A few are decent, but not even worth the couple bucks. But then there are those very few indie games that rise above crap, past mediocrity, and ascend to the highest levels of greatness man can achieve.

Raiden returns

Posted by Brian On May - 14 - 2009

The Ace of Spades

The shmup series Raiden never caught on with the masses here in the States, compared to R-Type or Gradius, but the series has always been near and dear to my heart. And even less known then the original Raiden games is the off shoot series Raiden Fighters. Raiden Fighters took what the original Raiden did, and took it to the next level. I played Raiden Fighters 2 in the arcades when I was younger and loved it.

Three games were released in the series, Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2, and Raiden Fighters Jet. These games have been in port limbo for over 10 years now. From the Saturn to the original Xbox, it never seemed to work out. Thankfully a little known company called Valcon has taken it upon themselves to port these games to none other then the Xbox 360. Even better, the collection is budget priced at $20. Yes, $20 for all three Raiden Fighters games. Add to that, the options included in this collection are insane. You can set the framerate for the game (the original 54 fps or 60fps), You can change smoothing filters (I’ve got it on none as the crispy pixels taste so good). Then you can even simulate scanlines. You can change your overscan and change to TATE mode. You can upload replays, watch other replays, The list goes on and on, but needless to say, I need not go on. At this point, you should be either be opening a new browser window and ordering it online, or getting some clothes on and driving down to a store and picking it up.

So since you should be gone by now, I’ll be getting back to work.

Yes, go.

Now!

My favorite thing to slap

In a previous post, I told you about my good DSi luck. You can read about it here.

After I purchased a charger for my new found DSi, I decided to peruse the rest of the store for kicks and giggles. As a general statement, finding good deals at a Gamestop is a rarity. But as I walked around, I saw something out of place. Since the rise of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Gamestop has had a steady flow of used guitar controllers. But I already had two guitar controllers and wasn’t in the market for one. What did peak my interest was an oddly shaped headstock. This wasn’t your typical Gibson or Epiphone or even wanna be off brand. Nor was it a normal 6 string headstock. What I saw was a four string headstock.

So I walk around to the other side, and to my delight, I find: Read the rest of this epic article! »

X-Men TAS on DVD!!

Posted by Brian On April - 27 - 2009

Joe Madureira rocks your face off!

When I was growing up in the late 80’s and 90’s, my priortities in life were quite simple, video games and Saturday morning cartoons. Along with the usual cast of favorties is one of my all-time favorites: X-Men! I can still remember hearing Wolverine and freaking out because the guy had a voice that sounded like the perfect Wolverine. In the past few years, retro shows have been coming out of the woodworks and getting a DVD treatment, but through all of it, no X-Men. Sure, we’ve gotten a few isolated episodes here and there, or some bootleg copy of the series, but no offical release. Nearly 17 years later and we are finally getting the first real DVD release of the show on Tuesday April the 28th, 2009!

Two volumes will be released tomorrow for a total of 33 episodes. Even better, Best Buy is running a special. You can get both volumes for $35 instead of $20 separately. Yea it’s just $5, but it’s better then an antimantium claw to the junk. Follow the link for more details:
