Boomzies #36 – When Video Game Reviews Go Bad

Boomzies 36

We start this issue off with a little news of our own. Substance TV is proud to welcome Shawn Murphy and Brandon Dickerson to the crew and we answer your questions about these fine lads.

In our main topic we address the dark side of video game reviews. From accusations of reviewers being fired for not giving a game a positive score, publishers bribing reviewers to give better scores, or developer’s pay determined by Metacritic scores, we look at what happens when video game reviews go bad.

Boomzies #35 – Viewer Request Special

Boomzies Issue 35

Michael Bay is getting a lot of flack over his comments concerning the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. In his words, the Turtles will be an alien race, who are tough, edgy, funny, and completely lovable. Will this be the end of the Turtles on the silver screen, or a different interpretation?

As payback for our chat being down last week, we hand the show over to the viewers and let you make the requests. From day one DLC, Resident Evil Raccoon City, Ninja Gaiden 3, gays in video games, and the lack of scary games, we talk about it all!

Boomzies #34 – American Icons in Anime

Earlier this month, President Obama canceled joint U.S.-European robotic missions to Mars in 2016 and 2018 Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, an accomplished astrophysicist, lays out the case for continuing to advance the space frontier. We take a look at how this decision not only affects mankind’s future in space, but geeks just as much.

Then in our main topic we discuss American icons in Japanese anime. Over the past decade, American icons such as Superman, Batman, Ironman, Wolverine, and many others have made the jump to anime. Does this new foray into anime ruin what made these characters special, or is it simply another interpretation just as valid as the source material?

All this plus a few rants an Apple’s new iPad 3 and the normal banter between Landon and Brian in Issue #34 of Boomzies!
